Hi there,

I currently have one strain of "guppy" that was given to me over a year ago. I believe that they are a guppy Endler cross as they very much have the Endler colour pattern, however they are almost the size of an average guppy. The females are typically a drab brownish colour but the males have either a bottom sword tail shape or a double sword, the occurence of the double sword is far less. Recently I have discovered four young fish that are leucistic, 3 females and one male. The absence of colour in the females is complete and they are a golden yellow colour. The male however is starting to show colour in his caudal fin and at the base of his tail. I have isolated these four fish from the main colony.

I must admit that I haven't given them much time as I have been busy with other breeding projects. However my passion for guppies has been rekindled following an 18 year break. I know that the guppies I have are mongrels for want of a better expression but I hope to learn as much as I can before attempting to keep one of the pure stains.

Regards.

Hi Adam

You are welcome to our forum.

Hope to convert you to Showing Guppies at some point in the future.

Mean while good luck with the Endlers.

Thanks for the warm welcome. :D

I am afraid that you are preaching to the converted. I have spent the last two days reading up as much as possible. Guppies were my first tropical fish and it's funny how I have turned full circle and ended up on the same species I started out with. :?

I must say that some of the new strains now available are truly stunning. That said I do like the look of the mosaics available in the sales section, this happens to be the variety of guppies I started out with all those years ago. I think there's a bit of nostalgia going on here on my part.

Regards.
